Sage & Square is my design studio, based in Perth, Western Australia. I’m a website and brand designer specialising in Squarespace & Shopify websites. I work with clients both locally and internationally. I love joining the dots between your vision and your ideas to create a cohesive and exciting small business brand.
I believe every business, no matter how big or small deserves a beautiful website. One that not only looks good, but that functions well and converts people into clients or customers. That’s my why - I love building authentic websites, with quality branding for creative entrepreneurs.

I'm Jo, a down-to-earth designer of brands and websites for creative entrepreneurs. Originally from New Zealand, I spent 12 years in London and landed in Australia almost 10 years ago with my little family.
I started working with Squarespace websites while running my own small business. Frustrated with website platforms that were unnecessarily confusing and designers that couldn't deliver my vision, I took it upon myself to learn how to build websites using Squarespace and then later on, Shopify. Four years later, I love working with like-minded small businesses.

Frequently asked questions
→ how do the payments work?
At the same time you sign your contract, you'll pay a 50% non-refundable deposit. If you're an Australian based client, I prefer EFT payments. If you're based internationally, I accept PayPal payments. Once our project is completed, and before the website and final files are sent to you, I require the remaining 50% to be paid.
→ How do we communicate throughout the project process?
I use a client managemnet system called Dubsado. Using this system, I'll set you up with your own password-protected client Portal that will house your Contract, Invoice and Questionnaire/s. You can share images and files with me using Google Drive/Docs and I'll also set up a Google Sheet to track our design edits. Apart from that, we'll use email and if needed, we can always jump on a Zoom call!
→ How soon can you start working on my project?
It depends on what projects I'm currently working on. I usually like to book at least one month ahead to give you the chance to gather together all your website content and images. You might also be working with a Copywriter, so you'll need to ensure they have completed their work before we start.
→ I've never used Squarespace before, what are the benefits?
Squarespace is an all-in-one platform. This means you can have your domain name, hosting, website and email all within Squarespace. It takes away the necessity for third-party plugins (unless we want to add them), constant updates and it keeps your website and data safe from threats. It also means it's so much easier to manage on an ongoing basis.
→ I've never used Shopify before, what are the benefits?
Shopify is the fastest growing e-Commerce platform in the world. Some of the biggest brands use it, including Kylie Cosmetics, Victoria Beckham and Jigsaw. But it's not just for big business, it's perfect for small stores with big catalogues. I've written a blog post about Shopify and Squarespace and which would be best for your business.
